ISLAMABAD – Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, arrived here on Saturday on a three-day official visit. At Nur Khan Airbase, he was received by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
A red carpet was rolled out for the Crown Prince as he alighted from the special aircraft. He was given a 19-gun salute.
A contingent of the three services presented a salute to the Crown Prince, who inspected the guard of honor while the national anthems of the two countries were played.
The Crown Prince is accompanied by a high-level delegation including Dr. Sulaiman Al-Jasser, Minister of Economy and Planning; Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabeeah, Minister of Commerce and Industry; Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja, Minister for Culture and Information and Dr. Nizar Bin Obaid Madani, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, besides a large number of businessmen.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Crown Prince said that this visit came within the framework of the strong historical relations between the two countries, stressing the desire of the two leaderships to deepen and develop the bilateral relations.
He highlighted that his visit aims at enhancing consultation and coordination on issues of common interest at regional and international levels between the two countries.
Crown Prince Salman added that his visit will promote the role of the two countries in maintaining security, stability and development at regional and international arenas.
On Sunday, the Crown Prince will visit Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz at his residence. Aziz confirmed the importance of the visit. He said his meeting with the Crown Prince will deal with the developments in the Middle East and South Asia and the latest developments in Syria.
In the afternoon he will meet Defense Minister Khawaja Asif to discuss bilateral military relations. The Crown Prince will then receive Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly.
Later, Crown Prince Salman will meet Arab ambassadors in Pakistan. The Saudi embassy will host a dinner party in his honor.
On Monday, the Crown Prince will meet Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Raheel Sharif.
On Monday evening, Crown Prince Salman and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will hold talks before the general round of talks during which they will discuss regional issues of common interest.
The Crown Prince is also scheduled to visit Japan, India and Maldives.
